Roughing In the Kitchen

THE DEXTER HOUSE

Marrying Garrett almost 10 years ago was the best decision I ever made for many, many reasons, one of those being that with Garrett came his electrician father...;)

Yes, I'm talking about my father-in-law, aka Papa, aka our electrician.  At the time of our wedding (and with zero house renovations under my belt), I had no idea how amazing it would be to have a professional electrician in the family.  But now I know and oh boy am I thankful for the endless hours of free electrical work Papa puts into our properties!

Papa has been pulling wire like a mad man this past week at the Dexter House.  Here's a peak at what that looks like in the kitchen.

If you've ever lived through a renovation, you know that all that wire is not as scary as it looks.  In fact, it's pretty dang awesome.  Rough-in electrical is a crucial step in our renovation schedule because we can't close up the walls until the exposed wiring is signed off by an inspector.  Meaning rough in electrical is currently holding up drywall, and hanging cabinets and installing countertops and well, moving in.  So all that wire...dang awesome!

p.s. It's time to find lighting for the Dexter House.  Wishing these were in the budget for every room at Dexter!

p.p.s. And speaking of the kitchen (oh weren't we)...life lessons around the dinner table.

p.p.p.s. I'm still trying to decide on a cabinet color for the kitchen.  Thinking about a soft gray like these...what do you think?
