Happy Friday 11/20/20

Happy Friday! How are you? How was your week? Goodness we’re here at home again, washing our hands, wearing masks, and feeling so incredibly thankful for this cozy and safe space of ours. Fall always sends us indoors, but this year more than ever we’ve been trying to make the most of it with games, scented candles, and lots of mellow folk on the radio :)

Have you decorated for Christmas yet? We hung up this beautiful seasonal wreath a couple of weeks ago, but had to take it back down for our magazine shoot (they wanted to pretend it was Spring…pretty sure the yellow foliage outside the windows gave us away 😉). The kids have been asking for full-on Christmas decorations so we might…maybe…possibly start adding some pine needles and ribbon around the house this weekend. We’re usually ‘after Thankgiving’ kind of people, but this year anything goes.

Speaking of wreaths, I’ve been eyeing so many beautiful ones lately. If you can, buy from your local nursery or small business to help your community and local economy, but if you can’t safely shop, here are a few beauties I’ve found online…

More from the week…

I am living in a COVID-free world just a few hundred miles from Manhattan. (nytimes)

Big heart eyes for Cassie Nicholas’ Victorian home. The vintage art, eclectic furnishings, colorful walls…it all feels so joyful. (apartmenttherapy)

Sedentary pandemic life is bad for our happiness. How are you keeping active? I’ve been enjoying this yoga and these hiit and strengthening workouts (with the kids climbing all over me 😉). (Atlantic, youtube)

Did you catch our first ever video home tour of our Farmhouse? All the pretty, finished bits and all the yet-to-be-touched bits, too.

A gift idea for the family-caretaker, the daughter of a butcher, or a considerate chef: a monthly humanely-raised meat subscription box. We’re buying this for a family member who fits all those descriptions. (butcher box affiliate)

The farm as a classroom. Found this so interesting and uplifting. (seattletimes)

Made me laugh: 2020 goals list. (@robynschallcomic)

I totally ripped my skinny jeans the other day 🙈 so I’ve been wearing a decades-old pair of high-waisted, straight-legged jeans on repeat. And I realized they’re SO much more comfortable and functional than skinny jeans. So now I’m looking for a replacement that’s similar to my decades-old pair and I ordered these to try. Would love to hear if you guys have any favorites! (amazon affiliate)

What a cool kitchen (that fireplace!). (mydomaine)

Changing the course of history. (@nytimes)

Sanitizer for Santa? This one got me thinking…will Santa be allowed inside the house this year? How will our holiday traditions shift? (nytimes)

Eating this vegetable-focused dish on repeat before holiday eating sets in.

We’re staying home this Thanksgiving and gathering with family over zoom. Wishing you a wonderful and safe holiday next week (and if you’re still debating how to celebrate, thought I’d pass along the CDC recommendations again).

Have a good weekend!
