Gift Guide :: Gifts to Wear, for her

The joy of the Holiday season has officially found us here at the Farmhouse! There’s snow on the ground, the kids are singing Christmas carols on the way home from school, and we’re baking and crafting (goodness do I LOVE a good holiday craft!) and getting a jump on holiday shopping. For anyone else who’s feeling the season, or wanting to get an early start on gifts, we’re sharing the first of our 2022 holiday gift guides below: gifts to wear, for her.

A note…we haven’t shared many gift guides in the past in part because there tends to be a lot of consumerism and general pressure to buy this time of year, and we don’t want to add to that noise. But I realized that a lot of people follow the Grit and Polish because they identify with our design perspective and appreciate our honest recommendations, and I feel like we have a unique perspective to add. So we’ve spent hours pouring over gift ideas from brands you know and small businesses you may not have heard of yet. Everything is 100% something you will find in our home or on our wish list.

We’re starting today with gifts to wear but we’ll be releasing gift guides for a handy homeowner (full of our favorite tool recs and homeowner staples), gifts for a polished home, gifts for kids, and gifts to eat (full of Indie foods for the foodie in your life). We hope these guides are a resource, source of inspiration, and way to ease some of the pressure of holiday gifting :)

Gifts to wear, for her

I imagine giving these to the moms/grandmas/aunts/girlfriends in my life, but really it’s for anyone. Lots of my everyday brands are on here and I either own or want every single thing on this guide (hint, hint). Price points start at $10.

  1. A wool/alpaca blend winter sweater that’s festive without being too festive. I own this cozy and incredibly-soft sweater in my usual size. ($118)

  2. This knotted tartan headband is the easiest way to make any outfit a holiday outfit. I own so many of these and always get complements on them. Bonus, they don’t give me headaches! ($17)

  3. I imagine giving these zodiac necklaces to friends in their zodiac signs. They’re so fun! ($34)

  4. A throw-it-on to make any outfit look instantly cute sherpa jacket…what more can a busy mom want? ($199)

  5. A classic fringed scarf in tartan, updated in a cozy soft fabric so that’s sure to be an instant favorite. ($75)

  6. Slippers are my go-to wear around the house and occasionally to the grocery store footwear. These updated classic slippers (here and here) are so cozy and practical that anyone would be happy to find them under the tree. ($120)

  7. Cozy merino wool blend crew socks from my favorite brand updated in a holiday pattern. These will keep anyone living in an old house warm ;) ($27)

  8. My special occasion lip balm. It’s somewhere between chapstick and lipstick, and makes everyone’s lips glow. ($38)

  9. I’m a sucker for classic menswear-inspired matching pajama sets and this 100% cotton version is sure to be a favorite all year long. ($66)

  10. A dear friend gifted me a necklace from this small jewelry maker and I wear it almost every single day. Her beautiful stackable rings would make such a thoughtful gift! (starting at $10)

  11. So much cuter then their 1980’s counterparts, these hip bags (or dare I call them fanny packs) are so stylish and beyond practical. I use mine all the time for everything from flying across the country to running into the grocery store to hiking. ($55)

  12. Warm, cozy and stylish boots from my go-to brand. I bought these this year to keep my feet warm all season long from school drop off to Christmas tree hunting in the woods. ($210)

  13. The cutest confetti beanie. ($36)

  14. Is there anything more practical and easy than a classic leather tote? This one in tan is one of my favorites. ($248)

Happy gifting!
